Policymakers and Advocates
We offer clear information, data, and analysis about key issues across our schools and system, as well as stories from students and educators that highlight their authentic experiences and needs.
We’re proud to share those data, analyses, and stories with our entire community. We know that policymakers, school leaders, and our partners at the district use this information to make decisions that impact our city’s children and community members have the tools they need to advocate for themselves.
Advocating for Key System Values
We advocate for laws and policies that uphold the key system values we believe have best enabled and strengthened our vibrant community of schools, support our students’ learning and well-being, and facilitate our educators’ excellent work.
These key system values are autonomy, accountability, access, and equity.
These key system values are codified in local Orleans Parish School Board policies and La. Revised Statue 17:10.7.1 (Act 91). Learn more about our Key System Values and Act 91 here.
Data
We develop insights about our schools, students, educators, and system at large. This helps our schools, students, families, community, policymakers, and advocates understand our students’ progress and needs. Our data work includes:
- NOLA By the Numbers, an annual infographic capturing many of the basic statistics about our system–from the number of students across our schools to their performance on state tests.
- The School Sustainability Analysis helps our community understand the impact of demographic shifts on our school system. A declining birth rate will continue to lead to lower enrollment, which impacts our schools’ finances and their students’ experiences. We provide a deep and thorough analysis of these impacts here.
- The NOLA-PS Data Dashboard was developed by NSNO in collaboration with NOLA-PS to support NOLA-PS’ Portfolio Strategy focused on improving access to high-quality schools that meet the diverse needs and interests of families.
